Job Description Agency Instructor III - Preparedness Exercise Program 2 Positions to be filledTemporary/Casual PositionTelecommuter$45.00 per hourAs a member of the Preparedness Exercise Program, the Instructor will perform various functions within the exercise program including the design, development, setup, execution, evaluation, and after-action reporting of full scale, functional, and table top exercises and custom training courses.
The Instructor will follow the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) and approved curriculum course outlines as explained in the applicable Instructor Guides. In addition, this position will actively participate in course development and review/revision of courses following the TEEX curriculum development process and review new instructional materials as requested. The Instructor will also maintain records, reports and documentation of activities during each course or exercise delivery. Will utilize his/her knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Seven (7) years' experience in a command or leadership role in one of the ten response disciplines (i.e. fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Hazardous Materials, Government Administration, Public Health, Healthcare, Emergency Management, Public Works, Public Safety communications. (*9 years’ command or leadership experience with an Associate’s degree or 11 years’ command or leadership experience with a high school diploma or GED)
- One year of adult education and/or training
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
- Recent experience or specialized knowledge in incident response operations that utilized ICS
Required Licenses/Certifications:- Valid Driver’s License
- Completion of ICS 700, 800, ICS 100-300
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Ten (10) years emergency response experience; ten (10) years with a State or Federal task force; five (5) years as a chief officer or senior management
- Wage Instructor - Preparedness Exercise Program PD
- Five years of adult education and/or training
- Completion of IS-120 (An Introduction to Exercises) and IS-130 (How to be an Exercise Evaluator)
- Be a Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP)
Physical Requirements:- Must be in good physical condition and be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift objects up to 50lbs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Must have effective verbal and written communication skills, able to interact with senior and middle management members of TEEX on a regular professional basis
- Able to provide Subject Matter Expertise in one of the ten (10) response disciplines (i.e. fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Hazardous Materials, Government Administration, Public Health, Healthcare, Emergency Management, Public Works, Public Safety communications

Essential Duties & Tasks: Exercise and Training Course Delivery - 75%: - The Instructor will be responsible for delivering various exercises and courses within a specified program.
- The Instructor will assist the Training Manager with the design, development, setup, execution, evaluation, and after-action reporting of full scale, functional, and table top exercises and custom training courses.
- The Instructor will also prepare course material and classroom/exercise location, maintain subject matter expertise on topics of instruction and present lessons in a positive manner using adult learning principles and ensure all aspects of lessons and activities are covered participate as a Subject Matter Expert as needed and assist in course development and review as needed.
Training Documentation - 20%: - Collect forms at the start of class, ensures students sign the attendance roster, maintain appropriate student activity documentation ensure course evaluations are collected and returned as instructed by Program Manager and complete all required course documents in a timely manner.
Fiscal Responsibility - 5%: - Submit time sheets and travel forms and receipts within the required time frame. Complete all required TAMUS training within the requested due dates.
