Job Location: Remote telework based out of Jefferson City, MO. The ideal candidate will be required to live in the State of Missouri and travel throughout the State of Missouri.
Why you’ll love this position: This is a full-time, 12-month, consultative position concerned with assistance to non-profit workshop managers or executive team in the proper operation for the workshop. This position requires up to 10 nights per month of overnight statewide travel.
- Consult with workshop management and boards of directors on operational matters and aid with facilitation in technical matters pertaining to light industrial operations as well as service orientated business:
- Compliance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Adherence to appropriate standards for health and safety in the workplace.
- Procedures for efficient and effective workflow and production techniques.
- Development and maintenance of proper accounting, production, and other records pertinent to the operation of a sheltered workshop.
- Sales/marketing strategies and techniques relating to industrial and service business sectors.
- The ability to obtain a 40 Hour OSHA General Industry Certification and 10 Hour OSHA Construction Certificate, along with Industrial Trucks (forklifts) Train the Trainer Certificate at the state’s expense within nine months of employment.
- The ability to obtain working knowledge of Section 14c of the Fair Labor Standards Act as administered by the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division (USDOL-WH).
- Conduct annual inclusive field audits in assigned workshops on the following:
- Verification of state aid requests, procedures, and records.
- Verification of eligibility of employees for which state aid has been requested.
- Verification of wages paid according to USDOL-WH Section 14c Commensurate Wage requirements.
- Verification of compliance with all other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements as pertaining to the operation of a workshop as a “proper agent of the state.”
- Perform other tasks and assignments as directed.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, construction management, criminal justice, economics, education, social work, environment, health, safety, and security or closely related field.
OR - Associate degree from an accredited institution, with additional two years of experience in accounting and/or business management and/or industrial management and/or environment, health, safety, and security or closely related experience.
OR - Four years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping; business administration; construction; criminal justice/law enforcement; elementary/secondary education; environment, health, safety, and security; social work; professional licensing administration; regulated industry; government; or closely related experience and possession of a high school diploma or equivalency.
