    What You'll Be Doing

We're looking for an innovative Park Manager with proven experience ensuring visitors have safe and enjoyable park experiences through visitor services, historic preservation, stewardship, educational and recreational programming and park management.

Historic Yates Mill County and Crowder County Parks offer our community highly sought-after services such as outdoor recreation, cultural history and environmental education and nature viewing. As a member of our team, you’ll assist in delivering these services while regularly interacting with our community and supporting daily operations and maintenance of our facilities.

The centerpiece of the 174-acre park Historic Yates Mill County Park is the Historic Yates Mill, which is the last operable water-powered gristmill in Wake County. Historic Yates Mill dates to the 1750s, pre-dating the American Revolution and the founding of Raleigh. The grist mill officially closed for business in the 1950s and fell into disrepair. The mill was fully restored by 2000 and the park opened in 2006. Learn more about Historic Yates Mill County Park at www.wake.gov/parks/yatesmill.

Opening in 1998, a day at Crowder County Park provides a variety of educational and recreational activities for all ages. Park staff offer interpretive, hands-on programs for all ages and interests, as well as outreach programs for organized community groups. The park's 33 acres offer a closeness with nature along with the accessibility of maintained trails. The 2018 bond for Parks, Greenways, Recreation and Open Space included funds to expand Crowder County Park. Renovations and improvements slated for Crowder focus on adding new facilities, improving existing facilities and integrating the additional 96 acres acquired in July 2019. Work is expected to be complete in summer 2027. Learn more about Crowder County Park at www.wake.gov/parks/crowder.
