Utility Manager

Full-time position available with the Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division located at 5300 Municipal Ave
Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the administrative and professional tasks critical for the operations of Solid Waste Services.
• Provides senior management support across various areas, including the planning, design, direction, and overall management of one or more business units within Solid Waste Services.
• Supervises a diverse range of administrative and operational matters.
• Applies effective management practices to develop, modify, enhance, and implement departmental operational policies and regulations.
• Executes programs with a high degree of independence, utilizing significant initiative and independent judgment while adhering to established policies.
• Work reviewed by the Operations Officer and/or Deputy Director through meetings, observations, and evaluations of reports and outcomes.

Qualifications

REQUIRES eight (8) years of experience in public or private sector programs and four (4) years of progressive administrative and supervisory experience.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
