Higginsville Habilitation Center is recruiting for a Therapeutic Services Worker, DBT Instructor, to be a part of a highly effective team that makes a difference in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities. HHC is a state operated program within the Department of Mental Health and supports individuals receiving 24/7 services.
This is an entry-level position accountable for assisting professional or higher-level positions in making detailed preparations for, and in carrying out, planned client activities in recreational, occupational, physical, music, and related therapy areas. At this level, employees learn activity techniques and their therapeutic applications as a means of developing the clients’ social skills, responsibility, and initiative, as well as their ability to cope with problems, gain self-satisfaction, and adapt to reality situations.
Knowledge of general methods of preparing for and conducting planned sessions of group activities. Ability to learn the basic principles and methods of recreational, music, and other related therapeutic activities, and their application to the treatment of persons with mental illness and/or developmental or physical disabilities.
As a DBT instructor you will help patients learn skills to improve their emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, and self-destructive behaviors.
Minimum Qualifications: - 0-1 year of work experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
