    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Radio-TV-Film ( RTVF ), Electrical Engineering, and Telecommunications or in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years of experience in a field related to the job.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:

    Valid Texas Class C Driver License.

    Position Overview:
    The Videographer Specialist, Sr. role is pivotal in ensuring that APH effectively reaches and engages with both internal and external audiences through compelling and accessible video content. This role is responsible for producing video content for APH programs and events, developing recruitment videos for challenging positions, creating engaging stories highlighting staff and program achievements supporting employee engagement initiatives through internal video content ensuring equitable health communication by using visual aids and providing translations producing training videos to support internal staff development and consistency in training practices.

    Grant Funded Position:
    • This position is grant-funded, meaning its financial support comes from allocated funds that may be modified, reduced, or canceled at the discretion of the City of Austin or the grant provider.

    Salary and Benefits:

    • Experience with live broadcasting technologies and equipment setup (e.g., live streaming software, multicamera setups).

    • Knowledge in public health communication strategies, including effective messaging and outreach through video.
    • Understanding of community engagement practices and the ability to create content that resonates with diverse audiences.
    • Strong project management skills with experience coordinating projects across multiple departments or organizations.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and community members.
    • Creative problem-solving skills, particularly in a public health emergency crisis communications production environment.
    • Ability to edit video content for multiple languages, including American Sign Language ( ASL ).
    • Completion of diversity and equity training programs to ensure inclusivity in video content and outreach strategies.
    • Evidence of recognition for outstanding video work (e.g., awards from media associations, festivals, or industry competitions)
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Confers with clients to determine program needs, identify production options, assist with script development, and determine overall program content. Conceptualizes, designs, and coordinates the production of video and audio programs to be used in training and staff development, public information and education presentations, promotional programs, and internal and external informational productions. Determines video production equipment needs and makes recommendation for purchases. Sets up, hauls, loads, and unloads equipment; operates cameras, lighting equipment, teleprompters, microphones, and other audio equipment; and monitors and adjusts equipment during taping sessions. Shoots and edits video, selects music, designs digital video effects, and creates graphics in order to create a finished product using editing systems and equipment. Writes, either individually or as a member of a team, and edits scripts for video and audio productions. Duplicates and distributes video and audio programs on various media formats to department employees, the general public, the media, and other stakeholders. Coordinates complicated projects, sometimes including multiple departments. Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots equipment. May train other staff on best practices in video production.

    City Government
