OverviewThe District Attorney's Office is looking for a dedicated, thoughtful attorney to represent our office in problem-solving court dockets. Problem-solving courts offer a meaningful alternative to incarceration, using innovative, collaborative approaches to address the root causes of adult criminal behavior, such as addiction, mental health challenges, and issues faced by U.S. military veterans.
We’re seeking an attorney with a solid background in criminal law who can think critically and creatively, with experience or a strong interest in evidence-based alternative sentencing models. In this role, you’ll work closely with judges, treatment providers, social services, and other team members to develop and implement tailored treatment plans for participants, supporting their recovery and reducing recidivism.
Depending on experience and which courts they will be assigned to, the person hired may be at a DDA I, II, or III. This position is currently partially grant-funded and has a 4-year grant.
The starting salary is D DA I - $79,216, DDA II - $87,138, and DDA III - $95,852-$102,000.
Our primary office is located in beautiful Fort Collins, with a second office in Loveland, right in the heart of Northern Colorado. In our district, you'll find the scenic Cache La Poudre and Big Thompson rivers, Horsetooth Reservoir, and of course, the breathtaking Rocky Mountain National Park. We encourage staff to take a couple of longer lunches each week to get outside and recharge-whether it’s jogging on one of our many local trails, biking (Fort Collins has earned Platinum status as a bicycle-friendly community), or enjoying a yoga class in Old Town. Fort Collins also has over 20 craft breweries, Colorado State University, and a host of family-friendly events, making it a vibrant community to be a part of.
Our team is proud to have received awards for innovative projects and forward-thinking approaches that make a real difference. Beyond our comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, and vision), Larimer County offers a wellness clinic for preventative screenings, primary care, physical therapy, and even massage and acupuncture-covered by clinic leave. Once you've completed a probationary period, there are work-from-home options too.
Staff wellbeing is a top priority for us. We have a robust resiliency program, with 13 clinicians available for same-week appointments and peer support specialists in the office for anyone who needs a moment to decompress. If this sounds like the community and team where you’d thrive, we’d love to see your application!
