Pay: $44,438.16 - $47,549.04
Qualifications: Must demonstrate the following which may be obtained through military and/or work experience or through completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related program:
- Knowledge of the federal and state laws, regulations, and procedures related to benefits available to military service members, Veterans, and their dependents
- Knowledge of the application and appeal processes for Compensation, Dependents Indemnity Compensation, Disability and Live/Death Pension, Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Burial, VA Insurance, Medical Treatment and other Federal benefits
- Knowledge and ability to apply the basic principles and methods of interviewing, communicating and interacting with members of the general public from diverse backgrounds
AND
- Possess an Honorable Discharge from the military forces of the United States
(Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.)
Examples of Work: - Conduct interviews with Veterans and their dependents
- Review background data, medical and financial information to determine eligibility for and raise awareness of Federal, State, and Local/Private Veteran benefits or other related programs
- Develop claims packages for Veterans and their dependents seeking disability, education, health care, cemetery, and related benefits, ensuring proper certification of all documentation based on Department of Veterans Affairs laws and regulations
- Maintain and monitor beneficiary claim files to ensure continual receipt of VA benefits and prepare annual verifications for eligibility
- Serve as program and benefits representative to conduct outreach, attend benefit fairs, present at area events to promote the Missouri Veterans Commission programs
- Respond to benefit questions from Veterans, dependents, legislators, and National Veteran Service Organizations
