    Summary

    Maintains and repairs storm water drainage structures in the City of Lancaster by performing the following duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Acts as Crew Leader in Absence of Heavy Equipment Operator II.
    • Use of heavy equipment to clean drainage pipes, ditches, channels, easements, flumes, under bridges, and creeks within the boundary of the roadway and right-of-ways.
    • Trims trees, bushes, and other vegetation, to ensure proper drainage inside City owned right-of-ways as well as other drainage structures.
    • Work with Streets department to assist with the completion of assignments and special projects including but not limited to repairing roads with asphalt and concrete work, hauling excavated dirt, rock, concrete, and debris, etc.
    • Assists in establishing traffic control to ensure safety of site.
    • Use of concrete work to repair, maintain, and replace storm water drainage headwalls, flumes, spillways, and approach and departure slabs on both ends of the culverts.
    • Use of heavy equipment, hand tools, shovels, rakes, etc. to clean and clear a finished job site once all work is completed.
    • Responsible and safe operation of City of Lancaster vehicles and equipment for approved work-related transportation.
    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Valid State Class A (CDL) Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Driving is a requirement of this position.
