Improve I-70 Construction Technician Series - Central Team

This position may be filled at one of three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry level salary is posted above; the Intermediate starting salary is $44,224.56; and the Senior starting salary is $48,621.60.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking a Construction Technician for the statewide Improve I-70 Program. This program includes the planning, design, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and repair of three lanes in each direction approximately 200 miles of I-70.

What you’ll do:

• Performs basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; reports results to supervisor.
• Performs measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
• Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
• Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections; keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensures projects meet department standards.
• Enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs.

All you need for success:

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

• Job requires moderate physical activity.
• Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
