    Health Information Technician

    St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - North, 5351 Delmar Blvd. St. Louis, MO. 63112

    Semi-Monthly Salary: $1,620.33 Day Shift (Sat/Sun Off Days) Work Location: Medical Records

    St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - North provides specialized care for adults diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Health Information Technician who has an interest in helping adults with mental illness maximize their potential. This is a certified technical position accountable for assisting in the daily operation of a health information management unit and in maintaining a systematic flow of clinical information to all sections of the facility. Work includes ensuring adherence to the most current edition of the International Classification of Diseases Manual (ICD) and/or the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) coding systems.

    Responsibilities:

    • Knowledge of current medical terminology, classification and coding systems, and accreditation standards and guidelines.

    • Supervise direct reports

    • Monitors North patient documentation in Intellidocs on Doctors for completion

    • Sends reports to Medical Director

    • Reviews documentation of other disciplines for correctiveness at the North campus

    • Audits North Discharged charts for completion

    • Conducts audits of inpatient charts at the North campus for completion and maintains log with said data

    • Codes Diagnoses for North patients

    • Maintains several reports for the department

    • Covers for any absences of direct reports

    • Ability to perform analyses of health information records for accuracy and completeness; to classify and code medical records; and to maintain an ongoing evaluation of health information services in relation to established standards and new technology.

    Eligibility:

    • Associate degree in Health Information Technology accredited by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
