Watershed Construction Maintenance Worker II is a lead worker for semi-skilled
construction and/or maintenance work to support a variety of drinking water or distribution
system activities. Operates hand and power tools, light to medium construction equipment,
etc., and is part of a larger crew working with skilled trade employees, experienced
equipment operators, technicians, and crew supervisors. May also work alone or act as a lead worker on a crew for construction or maintenance activities. May assist in training, orientation, or observing junior associates, apprentices, or semi-skilled employee
Supervision Received Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written/verbal instructions to accomplish assigned tasks; may assist in training, orienting, or observing lower-level associate, apprentice, or semi-skilled employee in the group.

- Completes assigned work orders correctly and on time
- Works with supervisor to prioritize work orders
- Works in a safe and organized manner to ensure safety for self, crew, and the public
- Works as part of and/or leads a crew to:
- inspect and repair water mains
- place flags or cones to control traffic in case of water main breaks
- make water tap on water mains
- install water meters and tailpiece on water mains
- unstop sewers and house connections
- clean catch basins and repair cave-ins
- locate water service connections and water main lines
- mark service connections, water mains, and sewer lines
- Follows assigned route/schedule, advises customer of installation, records meter number and other required information, and time it took to complete job
- Visits construction sites to verify work completed by contractor
- Checks utility truck to ensure proper equipment and tools are present and in working order
Decision Making Generally, operates under the specific direction of crew supervisors. May assist in the task of guiding work of less experienced employees. Selects from multiple standardized procedures, written instructions, and methods to accomplish assigned tasks.
Leadership Provided Ability to work productively on a team and provide guidance to lower-level team members as needed.

- General site safety of water operations and maintenance, methods, products, tools, and equipment used in water maintenance and construction work
- Operates a variety of light to heavy power equipment (vactor truck, backhoe, excavator) and maintenance of tools and equipment (pumping equipment, hydraulic excavator, concrete socket)
- Understands and applies DWM policies, procedures, and regulations
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with customers
- Maintains records, creates reports, and documents work status with photos and data
- Works after normal working hours, as required
- Resolves heavy equipment issues (sewer)
- Communicates with customers to successfully address issues
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience - High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Seven (7) years of experience in construction and/or maintenance in a water distribution system
Licensures and Certifications - State of Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B (Preferred)
- Water Distribution License (Preferred)
