About the Role: We are excited to introduce the Construction Management III (Mechanical Inspector) position within the King County Wastewater Treatment Division. This position may also provide inspection services across the Wastewater Treatment Division which has facilities across King County and within portions of Snohomish and Pierce Counties.
This role will inspect mechanical construction activities, including the installation of pumps, piping, and all mechanical appurtenances found in a wastewater treatment plant or pump station. The successful candidate can recognize correct work and safe work and coordinate construction activities well with the team.
About the Team: The Wastewater Treatment Division's Brightwater Construction office inspects and documents mechanical construction in an industrial environment. We ensure work is performed safely, correctly, and in compliance with drawings and specifications. The candidate will be part of a team that prides itself in ensuring proper upgrades to our aging infrastructure to keep wastewater flowing as designed and keeps the environment safe .

Job Duties
What You Will Be Doing: - Review submittals and shop drawings from contractors and subcontractors for conformance with contract plans and specifications.
- Ensure that construction is in compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Prepare field notes and submit daily written reports regarding the projects in progress. Prepare other written reports as requested.
- Assist in contractual change order preparations and negotiations. Interpret construction schedules for progress impacts and slippage. Provide input as required for contract dispute resolution.
- Review and interpret engineering design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with acceptable construction methods and wastewater treatment requirements. Provide written comments to the project team during the design review process.
- Monitor the work performance of contractors and assist in the review of progress payment applications
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Qualifications You Bring: - Two (2) years of technical school training in civil engineering or a related technical field and four (4) years of progressively responsible construction inspection or sub-professional engineering experience is required; Or six years of progressively responsible construction inspection or responsible engineering experience is required preferably in the fields of construction inspection; Or three years of experience as a Wastewater Construction Management II is required.
- Knowledge of the construction of mechanical and structural facilities, especially as applied to wastewater treatment or heavy industrial facilities.
- Experience managing construction activities in operational environments and knowledge of hazards and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications as applied to wastewater treatment facilities and large conveyance systems.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, emphasizing on mechanical and conveyance system installations.
- Ability to inspect materials and workmanship and recognize deficiencies and omissions requiring correction.
- Knowledge of relevant construction laws, ordinances, codes, regulations, specifications, and standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally.

Required Licenses/Certifications:- Washington State Driver's License
It Would Also Be Great If You Bring:- Experience working in active treatment plants and pump stations. Familiarity with setting large pumps.
- Additional academic or vocational courses in civil, general, electrical or mechanical engineering; electrical, mechanical and construction code requirements, or building construction is desirable.

Working Conditions- Work Location: Brightwater Treatment Plant - 22505 State Route 9 SE, Woodinville, WA 98072, and other locations across King County.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime-eligible
- Union Representation: T his position is represented by King County Technical Employees' Association (TEA) bargaining unit.
