    Minimum Qualifications
    This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:


    Human Resources Assistant:
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience in a field related to the job.
    • Additional education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.


    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    None.

    Human Resources Assistant Senior:
    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field, plus four (4) years of HR experience.
    • One (1) additional year of experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

    What’s the Job?

    The Human Resources Assistant/Assistant Senior will provide crucial support to the department across a variety of HR functions, including assisting with recruitment efforts, managing employee records, and handling general HR administrative tasks. This role will work closely with the HR team to ensure compliance with best practices, policies, and procedures related to employment, compensation, and administration.

    The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion. They should be collaborative, assertive, and professional, with a strong sense of integrity. The ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills is essential. Strong attention to detail, business writing, and proofreading abilities are also required.

    Travel:

    If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    City Government
