This position will be in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources General Counsel’s Office, at the Lewis & Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.
This is a professional position that provides legal advice and work product for the department primarily supporting the Division of State Parks, with opportunity to expand to additional practice areas. This includes:
- Conducting complex transactional work;
- Providing counsel on government procurement, state and federal grant administration, real estate transactions, and public records law;
- Providing counsel on contract and land disputes, risk management, and premises liability;
- Drafting, interpreting, and analyzing current and proposed state and federal statutes, regulations, and policies;
- Coordinate with the Attorney General’s Office on matters referred to that office for litigation; and
- Identifying issues and counseling department team members regarding general legal matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials;
- Prior experience in environmental, regulatory, transactional, or administrative law;
- License to practice law in the State of Missouri or ability to become licensed in Missouri;
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills; and
- Outstanding judgment and professionalism.

- Works collaboratively with program and division team members and leadership and is a role model of the department values.
- The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in governmental, administrative, real estate, or complex transactional legal work.
A background in business organization, contract drafting, and real estate closings preferred.
