Plans/formulates effective graphic arts services for agency programs; consults with administrative and professional personnel on various phases of design projects to determine the message and material to be illustrated; designs/prepares a variety of bulletins/manuals/booklet covers which can be reproduced by means of standard printing processes
Develops graphic artwork/layouts/designs utilizing computer-assisted technology and a variety of media/ equipment/specialized graphic hardware and software; functions as liaison with printing vendors and/or staff printers; examines proofs for accuracy; designs/constructs/directs the construction of, various visual presentations, including photographic displays, and exhibits from various sources; generates the finished product in various formats
Prepares four-color printed documents and publications; prepares graphics for use in website design; prepares and/or modifies graphic artwork received from other agencies for printing; operates digital and video cameras; supervises the printing of four-color and complex print jobs by observing press runs and examining color accuracy
Prepares and maintains files of projects and artwork for archives; serves as designer in developing and preparing various publications and web pages; Exercises independence in the performance of duties, with work being reviewed to assure accuracy of message; receives general administrative direction; performs other related work as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Two or more years of experience as a Graphic Arts Specialist II with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System
ORFour or more years of experience in graphic arts, commercial art, computer graphics, or closely related field.
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes earned credit hours in Art, Commercial Art, Graphic Art, Graphic Design, Computer Graphics, or closely related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis, at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills: - Photography: Experience a plus, but not mandatory. Photos will be taken for various products, as well as other elements needed for design purposes.
- Digital Filing: Must be able to store and keep digital data filed correctly. Labeling, putting relevant material in correct folders in the system, etc.
- Operating Systems: Must be able to work on both PC and MAC operating systems.
- Software: Must be experienced in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, as well as basic Microsoft programs. WordPress or similar digital applications is a bonus
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.
The Department of Corrections is the only State agency that currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of service up to 20 years.
