ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Part-Time Information Technology Solutions Intern. Incumbents will gain exposure and experience in different aspects of the Information Technology Solutions programs in the areas of Windows Systems Administration, Service Facilitation, and IT Project Management.
Windows Systems Administration: - This internship offers an opportunity to acquire practical experience in IT system administration, server virtualization, M365 messaging, and cloud security management. Interns will support the management of Windows and Linux systems, as well as monitor and react to security incidents.
- This position is responsible for assisting in the areas of Information Technology Windows System Administration and monitoring security events. Assignments will provide experience developing and implementing IT Operation skills. Interns work under close supervision and are expected to become increasingly knowledgeable and carry out assignments with increasing independence.
Service Facilitation: - This internship offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in IT service management, asset management, and cybersecurity. Interns will support the management of IT assets throughout their lifecycle, assist with the onboarding and offboarding processes, and contribute to selecting and deploying hardware and software.
- The role also involves working within an ITIL-based service desk environment to handle incident management, request fulfillment, and knowledge base processes.
- Interns will help maintain the organization’s cybersecurity posture on end-user devices and collaborate with various IT teams on project tasks.
IT Project Management: - This internship will provide the student with relevant learning opportunities in business analysis, requirements gathering, technical research, technical writing, and IT project management. Student interns will build skills and experience in business analysis area by observing and assisting Business Systems Analysts.
- Interns will research and gather information about existing business process and systems, business systems technologies and trends; Maintain and update solutions specific documentation as technology and systems evolve; Participate in requirements gathering and capturing user stories; Assist with training end-users and creating any relevant training materials. Use of videos and interactive media over documents; Undertaking of tasks involved in IT project management lifecycle.
Please Note: Part-time employment will not lead to permanent employment. Part-time hourly employees are used to fill positions normally less than twenty (20) hours per week. Part-time employees do not receive benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust be a local student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, or closely related field. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. G raduation from high school or equivalent.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIESWindows Systems Administration: - Duties include assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers, specifically working with Windows Server and VMware virtualization. Interns will also support the administration and management of M365 messaging services, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across the organization. Additionally, they will be involved in monitoring and managing security through Microsoft Defender, responding to and mitigating security incidents to protect the organization's IT infrastructure.
Service Facilitation: - Duties include assisting with IT Service Management tasks, including incident management, request fulfillment, and maintaining the knowledge base using an ITIL-based framework. Interns will support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and other hardware. They will assist in managing technology assets through their lifecycle, from procurement to retirement, and contribute to the onboarding and offboarding processes. Additional responsibilities include assisting with cybersecurity tasks, such as monitoring and mitigating security risks on end-user devices, as well as collaborating with teams to deploy hardware and software updates and patches.
IT Project Management: - Duties include s trong technical and organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills, in a professional environment; Understanding of basic software architectures - single stack, 2-tier, 3-tier, cloud, hybrid, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc; Basic understanding of relational database management systems; Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint etc; Gain knowledge and understanding of identifying problems or opportunities in the existing business processes by interacting with the end-users; Gain knowledge and understanding of end-user functional requirements; Gain knowledge and understanding of various software and applications; Gain knowledge and understanding of project management, business analysis, technical writing, and customer service; Apply skills and knowledge to the workplace.
