Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: - Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Recreation, Physical Education, Parks Administration, or related field, plus three (3) years of experience developing and implementing aquatics programs and activities, and managing multiple swim facilities, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
Licenses or Certifications: - Swimming instructor.
- Life guarding.
- CPR .
- First aid.
- Water safety.
- Pool operations, either AFO or CPO .

The
Parks and Recreation Department - Aquatic Division operates 45 public aquatic facilities, which includes 7 Regional pools, 3 Community pools, 22 neighborhood pools, 1 wading pool, Barton Springs Pool and 11 splash pads. In addition to coordinating open water events and swim team competitions, we also offer instructional programs such as master swim, lifeguard and water safety training and youth and adult swim lessons.
The
purpose of the Aquatic Supervisor position is to supervise the daily operations of assigned aquatic facility or facilities to include daily supervision of temporary/seasonal staff, providing quality customer service, performing patron surveillance, completing maintenance tasks and communicating all maintenance and safety concerns to management.
Required certifications at time of hire: - Lifeguarding, CPR / AED for Lifeguards, and First Aid.
- If not already, the individual hired must become a certified StarGuard Elite Lifeguard.
Required Certifications within ninety (90) days of hire: - StarGuard Lifeguard Instructor ( LGI )
- Star Fish Aquatics Water Safety Educator ( WSE )
- Certified Pool Operator ( CPO ), Aquatic Facility Operator ( AFO ), or Aqua Tech Certified

Must be physically and mentally able to communicate, respond and work with participant’s needs and safety issues.

$26.61 - $31.87 per hour

Work/Location Schedule Notes: - Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
- May be required to work during special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
- Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs and programs.
- Must be available to be “on-call” evenings and weekends.
- May be required to work during city emergencies such as extreme weather events.

Preferred Qualifications:Preferred Experience: - Managing multiple aquatic facilities to include waterfront facilities.
- Developing, coaching, mentoring, and supervising a staff of over 100 employees.
- Experience with public speaking and interacting with individuals of diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Experience working with volunteers and community groups.
Preferred Skill: - Ability to fluently communicate (reading, writing, speaking) in English and Spanish.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Manages, controls, and audits cash handling and receipts for facilities involved with the collection of fees. Coordinates, develops, directs and implements organization’s aquatic programs and activities within the city and with other city and public organizations. Represents the city and department at meetings and conferences. Investigates and responds to calls, requests, and complaints from citizens. Conducts CPR and First Aid training. Develops, directs, implements, and approves promotion of facilities, programs, and events. Communicates project and program information. Reviews, implements, and is responsible for budget. Ensures mechanical and chemical balancing of pool operations. Conducts Lifeguard audits.
