    The Capacity Development & Source Water Protection Unit in the Public Drinking Water Branch is a team dedicated to protecting the public health of Missouri’s residents and visitors.     This position will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.

    • Implement the state’s Capacity Development Strategy for Existing Public Water Systems, in accordance with Section 1420 of the Safe Drinking Water Act, and organize Capacity Development Advisory Committee Meetings to solicit stakeholder input on future modifications of the Strategy.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with regional office team members, other government agencies and external organizations, and solicit stakeholder input on capacity development topics and activities that encourage public water systems to enhance their technical, managerial, and financial capacity.
    • Prepare capacity development reports, including annual reports to the United States Environmental Protection Agency and triennial reports to the Missouri Governor’s Office.
    • Develop requests for proposals, contracts for public water system assistance services, and financial assistance programs to help improve the technical, managerial, and financial capacity of Missouri’s public water systems.
    • Coordinate with federally funded technical assistance providers throughout the state regarding training and technical assistance programs for public water system staff and decision-makers.
    • Coordinate efforts to protect Missouri’s raw drinking water sources and assist with management of drinking water related Geographic Information System (GIS) databases.
    • Provide guidance, information, and assistance to public water systems to ensure they protect public health by providing safe, high-quality drinking water that meets or exceeds all national primary drinking water regulations.


    To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • Bachelor’s degree and 4 - 6 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
