    TPWD MISSION

    To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

    - Windows server administration & Patching -

    - M365 and Intune administration -

    - Knowledge in SharePoint site development & Management -

    - PowerShell scripting technologies -

    Under the direction of the Technical Service Manager, this position performs advanced (senior-level) systems administration work. Provides technical guidance and consultation within the Information Technology Operations team supporting local and remote systems and users. Provides strategy, architecture and systems design for the implementation of new cloud services on Azure and Amazon Web Services. Automates routines using scripting and other programming languages. Provides advanced administration of Microsoft M/O365 services in a federated environment to provide authentication, access control, and systems monitoring. Deploys new service and performs configuration services, maintenance activities and advance server and application administration. Provides oversight and guidance in creating policies and standards to guide the Agency in support of user data access rights and secure system environments. Manages server and application patching. Upgrades existing systems by conferring with vendors and service providers, developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements and new software. Provides oversight and recommendations on product evaluations for software and prepares recommendation reports to management. Oversees day-to-day server/client problems as third tier support for the Help Desk. Determines operational, technical, and system requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of servers. Cross trains on non-specialized areas to assist co-workers. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.


    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education :

    Sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university.

    Experience :

    10 years of overall Windows Systems Administration.

    4 years of experience in Microsoft 365 Cloud services.

    3 years of experience in PowerShell or other scripting languages.

    3 years of SharePoint Administration.

    NOTE : Experience may have occurred concurrently.

    Licensure :

    Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid state driver's license.

    ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS :

    Education :

    One additional year of the required experience may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 60 semester hours.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education :

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a Technology related field.

    Experience :

    Experience with Microsoft Exchange online, SharePoint and Teams.

    Experience with Power BI Integrations and Dashboards.

    Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.

    Experience with RDS, VPN and Radius infrastructures.

    Licensure :

    Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of core Microsoft M365 cloud technologies and services.

    knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and ability to maintain other Windows core services.

    Knowledge to configure various tunable system resources.

    Knowledge of Windows 2008 - 2022 operating system management and integration.

    Knowledge of domain architecture, Radius Services, RDS.

    Knowledge of project management procedures.

    Knowledge of Open-source software including content management systems and application middleware.

    Skill in M365 Administration including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and AzureAD / EntraID.

    Skill in M365 tools and services to architect, design, implement, configure and provide recommendations on best practices on new deployments.

    Skill in M365 Security policies and best practices to protect organizational data.

    Skill in PowerShell scripts, Graph API and other programming languages related to M365 operational tasks and automation.

    Skill in SharePoint Online configuration and development.

    Skill in designing, developing and data analysis using Power Platform and Power BI Dashboards.

    Skill in modernizing the custom legacy applications using Power Apps and SharePoint framework.

    Skill in supporting Windows server environment.

    Skill in managing all aspects of Active Directory Security (DNS, ACS, etc.)

    Skill in managing Microsoft Terminal Services and/or Remote Desktop Services environments.

    Skill in effective verbal and written communication.

    Skill in effective interaction with staff at all levels of the department and other state agencies and organizations.

    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts.

    Skill in making independent, sound, and timely decisions.

    Skill in managing several projects simultaneously.

    Ability to perform analysis to make decision to procure equipment and software and to identify and implement procedures to mitigate risk.

    Ability to work collaboratively with other to resolve complex problems.

    Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

    Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities.

    Ability to work as a member of a team.

    Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

    WORKING CONDITIONS :

    Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

    Alternate schedule may be available.

    This position is suitable to telework two days per week and the candidate may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

    Required to pass a national fingerprint-based background check to obtain employment.

    Required to adjust to changing schedules, based on business needs.

    Required to work overtime as necessary.

    Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures.

    Required to travel up to 5%.

    Required to respond to emergency on call situations.

    May be required to operate a State Vehicle.

    Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
