Job Summary Salary: Legal Secretary I: $19.71- $25.13 Legal Secretary II: $20.90- $26.64 Legal Secretary III: $22.16- $28.245 Performs specialized secretarial work requiring knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and forms. Performs complex and confidential secretarial assignments for two (2) or more City of Orlando attorneys. Work is of more than average difficulty and might be in a particular area of emphasis such as criminal law, litigation, pension, real property (acquisition and disposition), labor and personnel, environmental regulation, construction matters, professional services, or contracts and leases, depending on the attorney to which assigned. The legal nature of work requires that all tasks be performed accurately, and in strict conformance with established policies and procedures as well as court requirements. Employee is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in responding to inquiries from municipal employees, department managers, outside attorneys and the general public, in personally addressing administrative matters which do not involve policy determinations, and in recognizing and immediately bringing priority matters to attorney's attention. Work is performed under attorney supervision.
Minimum Qualifications: Legal Secretary I : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate, preferably supplemented by legal secretarial courses, and two (2) years secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must type 40 CWPM.
Legal Secretary II : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate, preferably supplemented by legal secretarial courses, and a minimum of three (3) years secretarial experience, six (6) months of which must have been as a Legal Secretary; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must type 40 CWPM.
Legal Secretary III : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate, preferably supplemented by legal secretarial courses, and a minimum of five (5) years legal secretarial experience, two (2) years of which must have been as a Legal Secretary with the Office of Legal Affairs; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must type 40 CWPM.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
