  • Job Description

    Two full-time positions available with the Aviation Department, Airport Police Division, located at the Kansas City International Airport, 1 International Square, and the Charles B. Wheeler Airport, 900 NW Richards Rd.
    Salary Range: $18.37-$28.01/Hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. during training and then shift bid after training.

    Responsibilities

    Kansas City International Airport Position:
    • Ensures safety and security of Airport Police building.
    • Checks guests in and out that arrive to do business and prohibits unauthorized access to building.
    • Works the taxi lot, entering taxis into computer system and dispatching them to patrols in the terminals.
    • Responsible for meeting and greeting customers.

    Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport Position:
    • Patrols the buildings and grounds at the downtown airport to safeguard against AOA breaches, trespassing, property damage, and theft.
    • Assures no unauthorized persons gain access to the airfield or parked aircraft.
    • Patrols are performed on foot and in vehicles and include patrol of the runways and taxiways.
    • Assists patrols and tenants and maintains crowd control during events.
    • Prepares reports and maintains activity logs.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school graduation and 1 year of experience as a security officer. May be required to obtain the appropriate license issued by the KCMO Police Department, depending on the specific assignment. May be required to possess a valid state -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
