    Summary

    Minimum Starting Salary: $19.63 hourly
    This position is in the Water Utilities Office and may be assigned to assist in different areas within Utilities and/or different departments within the City.

    A Utilities Customer Service Representative who has excellent customer service skills, communicates effectively, maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information, and performs other related and assigned duties as required.     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Two years of customer service, call center, or bookkeeping experience
    • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
    Position Overview:
    Under basic supervision, performs customer service functions for clients of the Water Utility Services Department
    (WUSD).

    Position Responsibilities
    • Provides prompt, courteous, and accurate service to the WUSD clients.
    • Provides customer services for WUSD clients, processes new customers, payments, service requests, service charges and adjustments according to City policies and procedures.
    • Will be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, and in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
    • Positions assigned to Call Center: Prepares records and billing account updates, creates work orders, enters and verifies data, processes documents and transactions, resolves customer service issues, and provides special customer services.
    • Positions assigned to Billing: Analyzes and prepares meter readings, records and processes billing account updates, creates work orders, enters and verifies data, processes documents and transactions, resolves customer service issues, and provides special customer services.
    • Positions assigned to Resource Management Group: Creates work orders, enters and verifies data, processes documents and transactions, and resolves customer service issues.
    • Positions assigned to Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / IT CIS project: Assists with payroll, provides departmental administrative support, assists with purchasing processes and account support

    Governance and Organization

    Waco is a home rule city with a council-manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of a Mayor, elected at-large, and five City Council members representing single-member districts, all serving two-year terms. The City Council sets the tax rate, approves the budget, appoints members to City boards and commissions, enacts City ordinances, and appoints the City Manager, City Attorney, City Secretary, and the Municipal Court Judge.

    The City has a strong Financial Management Policy that guides the operation and delivery of quality City services, contributes to excellent AA+ and Aa1 bond ratings, and maintains an unassigned fund balance reserve in the General Fund equal to 28% of current year budgeted expenditures. The City of Waco has more than 1,600 employees and a total operating budget of over $400 million.

    The City provides a full range of municipal services including a regional airport, animal services, building inspections, code enforcement, convention and visitors bureau, emergency management, housing and community development, economic development, fire, public health, library, municipal court, parks and recreation, planning, police, public works, Texas Ranger Hall of Fame Museum, utilities and zoo operations.
