Come join our amazing Project Management Unit (PMU) at the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) as a section leader. This opportunity will provide direct supervision and manage a section of PMU, including overall coordination for the scheduling and completion of Capital Improvement (CI) projects.
What you'll do:Provide direct supervision, engage professional development management, ETA time keeping, and overall performance management of the FMDC PMU staff of Engineers and Architects. More specific duties are as follows:
- Supervise project managers (PMs) that oversee design consultants for capital improvement projects.
- Ensure PMs follow state procedures to procure design and construction services.
- Ensure PMs follow design guidelines.
- Ensure PMs manage their teams in a manner that produces on-time quality construction documents, for bidding.
- Ensure PMs use and manage their projects with FMDC project management software (e-Builder).
- Review, approve and coordinate project scopes of work processes.
- Review and approve design consultant proposals, invoices and change orders.
- Participate in design consultant selection meetings for capital improvement projects.
- Participate in weekly PM, manager and project status meetings.
All you need for success:Minimum Qualifications - A degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related field. (Substitutions may apply.)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project design and/or management. (Substitutions may apply.)
Preferred Qualifications - Ability to supervise a project management team and manage/schedule capital improvement (CI) projects.
- Essential knowledge of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) industry standards, RS Means cost data, and construction related codes and design guidelines.
- Ability to accurately review, revise, resolve, verify, and approve project drawings, specifications, contractor submittals, pay applications, change orders, requests for information, substantial completion, and warranty items related to CI projects.
- Training, certification(s), and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
