    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field, plus three (3) years of HR experience.
    • One (1) additional year of experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

    Position Description:

    This HR Advisor position will oversee the UKG timekeeping system to include training, auditing, reporting, correcting, and closing of payroll for 1850+ employees, including 24/7 employee schedules and emergency operations. This includes acting in a lead role providing oversight and assigning day to day tasks in support of UKG (utilizing Workday and/or Banner). This position would facilitate the review and completion of audits/payroll corrections, when necessary, including supplementals payouts and adjustments ensuring that timekeeping policies, federal, state and local laws are followed. this position will serve as the point of contact for the department on any payroll questions or issues from employees, City Payroll, and City UKG team.

    Fair Labor Standards Act:

    This position is considered FLSA Exempt. Exempt employees are salaried and, except as provided, are not eligible for overtime compensation.

    Travel:

    If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    Critical:

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.
    Pay Range
    $$30.70 - $38.37

    • Experience managing timekeeping, auditing, and creating reports with UKG or similar for an organization of 500 or more employees.
    • Experience working in a HRIS system such as Workday.
    • Experience presenting to large audiences.
    • Experience administering new hire orientation program
    • Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Outlook) with intermediate / expert level experience in Excel.
    • Have the ability to travel to multiple sites as necessary.


    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Assists HR management in planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating major HR programs. Serves as subject matter expert in providing advice and counsel to management and employee groups on a broad range of HR issues and with applicable regulations, programs, policies, and procedures. Implements HR programs, procedures, processes, and strategies. Recommends enhancements to improve policies, procedures, operational efficiency, and service quality; and monitors implementation of agreed upon actions until the problem has been resolved. Advises and influences management in making sound HR-related decisions. Identifies, analyzes, and recommends solutions for various HR problems using morale indicators and other personnel measurements, such as, but not limited to, surveys, turnover, and grievances; and presents recommendations for corrective action programs when needed. Provides training to managers and supervisors on HR topics and procedures. Researches, gathers, analyzes, and evaluates data and information; monitors program trends; reviews and performs quality checks of program-related data; and develops and maintains management reporting to support decision making and policy development. Monitors and maintains system data, files, records, and reporting; transmits program data files to vendors; develops, monitors, and implements information tracking systems.

    City Government
