Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Community Services Division located at 4201 E. 63rd St. (Southeast Community Center)
Salary Range: $20.48-$30.71/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Sunday 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, 12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Plans and organizes recreation activities in the area of Creative Expressions (Examples: art, painting and/or drawing, sculpting and/or pottery, needle work and/or sewing, theatre and/or drama, music, dance, creative writing, photography, and/or woodworking), and/or Creative Expression events, and activities.
- Evaluates program effectiveness and recommends changes and implements management decisions.
- Plans, assigns, trains, directs, and monitors staff duties.
- Performs community outreach to promote recreation programs and stimulate interest in community center and department offerings.
- Assists supervisor with program budget development and management.
- Performs administrative tasks, such as attending and scheduling meetings, preparing reports, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining records.
- Identifies issues and resolves problems or refers to supervisor as appropriate.
- Performs routine facility maintenance and logistics, including but not limited to, the setup and tear down of tables, chairs, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinates logistics for facility rentals and ensures events are properly executed with optimal satisfaction.
- Monitors inventory, submits supply order requests, and maintains purchase records within authorized budget.
- Oversees fee collection and accounting activities.
- Assists with department special events as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, public administration or other related area of specialization; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must pass a preemployment drug screen as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
