  • Job Description

    Full-time position available with the General Services Department, Information Technology Division located at 4800 East 63rd Street
    Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902/month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages large, complex, department or enterprise-wide projects.
    • Researches and recommends new technology, process improvements, cost reductions, and strategies to determine potential benefits.
    • Defines and implements the strategic vision for the division, as well as performance measures.
    • Provides executive level reporting to the IT Operations Officer and other Executive Officials.
    • Trains, develops and evaluates subordinates to improve current processes, performance and prepare for future positions within the organization.
    • Manages budget for GIS Division and ensures budget is met.
    • Prepares and presents information on performance results.
    • Oversees the development and management of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that support complex geospatial analysis.
    • Ensures efficient and economical utilization software solutions and resources.
    • Develops, coordinates and approves current and long-range plans of GIS and projects.
    • Provides innovative GIS methods and techniques and implements new strategies to enhance the unit's production capabilities
    • Oversees integrating GIS technology with business intelligence to support decision-making processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Supervises and participates in asset management and best practices with Geographic Information Systems and associated Work Management System.
    • Supervises and reviews the preparation of comprehensive reports, present facts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to other municipal divisions and departments.
    • Assists with defining customer requirements by conferring with customer and analyzing functions and required or desired outputs.
    • Participates in defining and implementing technical direction.
    • Assures accountability of project teams and other employees.
    • Instills positive attitudes for embracing change and continuous improvement.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 8 years of technology experience; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and technology experience.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
