    The Position

    This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy for the position of Secretary for the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department at Napa County. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

    Napa County Information Technology Services (ITS) is a branch of the County Executive Office that provides technology services and solutions to all 18 County departments, as well as a range of technology services to five special districts within the County. Each of these functional areas and special districts provide their unique services to the Napa County community and ITS plays a strategic role in fulfilling technology needs in support of these varying businesses.

    The ITS Secretary assists the department by performing different administrative tasks. Examples of these tasks include timekeeping, maintaining department and staff calendars, reviewing employee expense claims, managing employee evaluations, accounts payable, purchasing and inventory, department credit card holder, acting as safety liaison, maintaining department forms and documents, screening incoming phone calls and visitors, management of office supplies for department, and maintain effective communication with department staff as well as other county employees, and vendors.

    The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, superb multitasking and prioritization, strong administrative, clerical, and technical skills, and has excellent time management. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and will work well in a team environment.

    Position Requirements:
    To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
    • Experience: Three years of significant, directly related and progressive clerical experience.
    • Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by specialized clerical training.
    • License or Certificate:* Certain positions assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.
    *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position. Loss of the required State licensure may result in termination or reassignment.

    Disaster Service Workers:
    Napa County employees automatically become Disaster Service Workers.     SALARY -
    Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
