    Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Facilities Maintenance Division, 3515 NE 33rd Terrace
    Salary Range: $29.98-$44.97/hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    • Plans and priorities assignments and schedules employee's daily work assignments.
    • Reviews assignments to be prioritized, taking into consideration the urgency and importance of work, skills required, availability of workers and equipment.
    • Directs and supervises assigned employees through work plan responsibilities and ensures task/project is completed to specifications in a timely manner.
    • Performs on-site supervision, assists in work tasks and on-the job training of employees.
    • Plans, coordinates, and supervises all day-to-day maintenance and repair of facilities, amenities, and signage.
    • Develops maintenance schedules, including cleaning, painting, repair, replacement, and safety inspections.
    • Coordinates with Facilities Maintenance Division to prioritize and streamline any projects that need to be handled by Facilities Maintenance at community centers.
    • Assists in budget preparation and administration. Develops project and program estimates for expanded level budget consideration.
    • functions of supervisor that include interviewing prospective employees, conducting performance evaluations, providing employee training, making salary recommendations and handling disciplinary actions.
    • Serves on project design committees and assists with selection of professional services, fee negotiation, plan review, cost estimates, inspections, problem resolution and verifies work for payment.
    • Develops specifications and initiates contact with contractors for facility repairs, improvements and/or other maintenance operations.
    • Visits sites and visually inspects work in progress, coordinates contractor's work with public use of facilities.
    • Receives and processes citizen complaints, concerns and questions.
    • Investigates complaints by visiting site in question.
    • Contacts other supervisors, managers, divisions, departments, and agencies to assist with complaint resolution when warranted.
    • Contacts citizens by phone or in person to communicate action taken.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years experience in mechanical and trades maintenance and repair with 1 year experience at the level of the City's Maintenance Mechanic. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for Backflow Certification and/or Aquatics Operations Certification

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
