The Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) is seeking a diverse pool of qualified applicants for the
position of Administrative Assistant within the Audit Division. The LCB is a nonpartisan, legislative
service agency that provides professional, technical, and administrative support to the Nevada
Legislature, which convenes biennially in odd-numbered years for 120-day sessions and for rare
special sessions during the interim periods. The Audit Division supports the Nevada Legislature by
meticulously reviewing financial records and operational practices to ensure transparency,
compliance and effective utilization of taxpayer funds in state government. This is a full-time
position located in Carson City, Nevada.
Position Description: Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Administrative Assistant will
provide administrative support to the Legislative Auditor and audit staff to ensure quality reports,
manage correspondence and facilitate effective communication. The Administrative Assistant has a
wide variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative responsibilities. Responsibilities of the
Administrative Assistant may include, without limitation:
• Performing a high-level review of work products, including proofreading and examining
various documents for accuracy, consistency of style and readability;
• Operating a variety of office equipment, including computers, printers, copy machines, and
other necessary devices;
• Maintaining accurate records and files;
• Preparing and organizing legislative committee meeting documents;
• Upholding strict confidentiality standards and adhering to principles of discretion;
• Keeping abreast of best practices related to office administration and usage of the Microsoft
Office suite and other relevant software;
• Performing various projects under the direction of the Legislative Auditor, Office Manager
or Audit Managers; and
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The Administrative Assistant will be selected with special preference
given to the candidate's training, experience, and aptitude in the field of administrative and clerical support. A qualified candidate must have: (1) a high school diploma/GED; and (2) at least 1 year of
clerical experience or general office experience; or (3) an equivalent combination of education and
experience. At least 2 years of experience in the field of administrative or clerical support is preferred.
Postsecondary education or professional certifications may substitute for the required experience.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
• The ability to prepare or proofread documents using proper grammar, spelling, punctuation,
format and style;
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat Pro;
• The ability to type with speed and accuracy;
• The ability to plan and prioritize tasks;
• The ability to work independently and adapt to changes in the work environment;
• Exceptional attention to detail;
• A thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality in handling documents and
communications;
• A thorough knowledge of current administrative support practices and processes;
• Good communication skills and the ability to exercise good judgment when working with
legislators, staff and the public;
• The capacity to cultivate and sustain effective working relationships;
• A high level of professionalism, particularly when facing deadlines and during critical
projects; and
• Punctuality, dependability, self-motivation and excellent customer service.
Salary: The annual salary for this position is based upon a Grade 32, which has a salary range of
$56,689 to $83,666 under the employee/employer-paid retirement option. An employer-paid
contribution plan is also available with a reduced salary in lieu of an employee contribution. Actual
starting salary will be based on experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in a typical office environment in a professional
setting. A flexible work schedule is available. Overtime may be required during legislative sessions
and certain other periods as necessary to meet the demands of the Legislature. When overtime is
worked, the Administrative Assistant may earn compensatory time that may be taken at a later date
or be paid for overtime, consistent with the LCB Rules and Policies and subject to budgetary limits.
