    We are recruiting to fill our Associate Legal Counsel and Units Supervisor position to perform highly responsible professional legal counsel work researching and analyzing a wide range of court related matters and providing technical and administrative assistance to judges and court clerks in order to improve the administration and operation of the courts. Work involves conducting legal research on a variety of case processing and administrative topics. This position provides supervision of staff in one or both of the units within the legal section. This position also prepares written reports or makes oral presentations to various committees of judges and clerks assigned by the Supreme Court.

    • Provides professional legal work featuring difficult legal/factual questions in the absence of clearly applicable precedents or those of highly arguable nature.
    • Provides recommendations to judges and court staff regarding procedural questions.
    • Staffs the Committee on Access to Family Court and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
    • Directs and coordinates activities involving workforce diversity and inclusion and equitable access to courts in the judiciary.
    • Propose policies and procedures and develops education in order to ensure diversity, equity and access in the administration and operation of the courts.
    • Coordinates the efforts of the Committee on Language Access


    Minimum qualifications:

    Juris Doctorate and 2 years of professional experience. Current license to practice law in the State of Missouri.

    Additional experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Considerable knowledge of one or more phases of law as required by the assigned duties.
    • Considerable knowledge of general law, state laws, established precedent, and sources of legal references.
    • Considerable knowledge of diversity, inclusion and equity law, practices, efforts and trends, particularly regarding court settings.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, court personnel, co-workers, subordinate staff, and staff from other agencies.
