    Minimum Qualifications
    Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years experience in repair and maintenance of electronics such as communications, computer and peripheral or control and instrumentation equipment.

    Twelve (12) semester hours of college credit in electronics, communications technology, engineering technology, computer science or related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.

    The primary purpose of an Electric Utility Physical Security Electronic Technician III is to ensure the safety and security of the utilitiy’s physical assests and personnel.

    Tasks include:
    • Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various electronic security systems such as Access control systems
    • Managing entry points to restricted areas, including doors and gates.
    • Installing and maintaining cameras, video recorders and related equipment to monitor activity on the property.
    • Intrusion detection systems such as setting up alarms, sensors, and other devices to detect unauthorized entry or breaches.
    • Fire and safety systems of installing and maintaining fire alarms, psrinkler systems and other safety equipment.


    In addition to these core responsibilities, an Electric Utility Physical Security Electronic Technician III may also respond to security incidents and emergencies, conduct regular inspections and audits of security systems, train and supervise other security personnel and stay up to date on the latest security techonologies and practicies.

    • Proficiency in different security system programming and databases for customizing security systems.
    • Experience in physical security systems installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Experience with various security technologies : Including access control systems, CCTV , and intrusion detection systems
    • Hands on experience with security system hardware, software and components
    • Industry certifications: Certified Security Systems Professional ( CSSP ), Certified Electronic Security Technician ( CEST ), or Certified Physical Security Professional ( CPSP ) or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment
    • Experience with vendor specific certifications e.g., certifications from manufacturers like Lenel OnGuard, Milestone Video management system and Hanwha Vision.
    • Effective communication with both technical and non-technical personnel
    • Focus on providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
    • Strong proficiency with attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem solving.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    1 .Installs troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment.
    2. Maintains data and communication lines.
    3. Operates and repairs test equipment. Calibrates and maintains equipment at and between control center and remote sites.
    4. Researches and orders electronic components and maintain parts inventory.
    5. Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and calibrates computer system and computer environmental and energy management systems.
    6. Installs and maintain digital and analogue microwave system.
    7. Maintains repair parts inventory and technical files. Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests.
    8. Advises supervisor and other personnel of new equipment needs and recommend specific types and models.
    9. Designs and installs circuits for electronic components. Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects, using oscilloscope signal generators, ammeters and voltmeters.

    City Government
