    Minimum Qualifications
    This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

    Equipment Technician I:
    Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years experience in repair and maintenance of electronic controlled pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.

    One additional year of relevant work experience may substitute for one year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four years.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    None


    Equipment Technician II:

    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience in repair and maintenance of electronic controlled pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
    • Experience may substitute education up to four (4) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:
    • If required, must obtain an appropriate Commercial Driver License ( CDL ) within120days of hire.
    • Aviation: Requires a valid State of Texas Class C Driver License and the ability to meet driver eligibility standards detailed in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program.

    POSITION OVERVIEW :

    Under general supervision, plan, schedule and perform tasks in the assembly, repair, and maintenance of complex or intricate electromechanical equipment such as Passenger Boarding Bridges, and 400hz ground power units.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
    Conducts routine inspections of equipment. Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment. Performs electromechanical repairs to complex equipment Modifies or refurbishes equipment. Estimates time, labor and materials for budget or billing purposes. Performs welding, braising or fabrication of some parts. Maintains technical data on equipment to be service
    ASSESSMENT :

    A skills assessment will be required for this position.

    TRAVEL :

    If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    Salary:
    Equipment Technician I:
    $22.82 - $25.78

    Equipment Technician II: $25.74 - $30.50

    ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL :

    This position is categorized as an Essential Personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

    CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK :

    Top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

    LANGUAGE :

    Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak in English.

    WORK HOURS :

    Shift may change according to departmental needs. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work

    ON- CALL / CALL BACK RESPONSIBILITIES :

    Position may require on-call or call back responsibilities.

    SHIFT INCENTIVE :

    Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.

    OVERTIME :

    Overtime may be required with or without notice.

    City Government
