    Position Description

    Tacoma Power's Power Management Resource Operations and Trading group is looking for a Power Energy Scheduler to join their team. In this role you will provide analytical and technical expertise for the wholesale trading and power scheduling functions. This position manages scheduling functions within a complex, evolving Energy Trading and Risk Management system and ensures complete, accurate, and compliant energy schedules and the associated financial attributes. This role attends internal and regional coordination meetings, prepares responses to data requests, and provides support on reliability compliance matters within scheduling and data reporting matters.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Schedule transmission and generation resources, coordinating complicated resource operations and wholesale transactions between market counterparties, balancing authorities, traders and resource analysts
    • Capture and manage the financial and physical attributes of all wholesale power purchases, sales, transmission, reserves and ancillary services transactions and fees, within a continuously evolving industry, utilizing a complex, comprehensive and multifaceted secure Energy Trading and Risk Management capture system, reporting interface and database. Analyze and provide expert services to management in the development and refinement of the system
    • Maintain the Tacoma Power Balancing Authority reliability compliance with verification of hourly interchange schedules through the WECC Interchange Tool. Track down errors and enforce corrections within and outside of Tacoma Power prescheduling and Balancing Authority prior to close of business each day
    • Determine accuracy and reasonableness of Daily Packet documentation of trading and system operation activities; identify gaps or discrepancies; determine action(s) to resolve
    • Verify all financial and physical aspects of wholesale power purchases, sales, transmission, reserves, ancillary services and fees; confirm transaction details with counterparties; negotiate to resolve discrepancies when required
    • Determine validity of request for payments, ensuring accuracy and agreement of financial and payment term details. Verify invoices are logged and processed while meeting critical deadlines
    • Subject Matter Expert for several NERC/WECC Reliability Standard requirements pertaining to settlements and reconciliations. Provide accurate and complete evidence of compliance for Internal and Regulatory audits; write and submit comprehensive responses for Reliability Audit Worksheet requirements and Data Requests. Meet all Reliability & Compliance timelines


    Qualifications

    Minimum Education*
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business or Public Administration or directly related field.

    Minimum Experience*
    2 years in power energy markets or accounting.

    *Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
