Engineering Interns to join our Engineering Department for the summer of 2025 (May-August, up to 40 hours per week). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various civil engineering projects that directly impact our community.
Internship opportunities will be concentrated in the Traffic & Transporation division and Construction Inspection division, with the prospect of rotation between other facets of the Engineering department.
Ideal candidates will have an interest in municipal government, experience with Bentley MicroStation or AutoCADD Civil 3D, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a willingness to work both independently and part of a team, and exemplify the

• Ensure safety.Acceptable Experience and Training- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university in undergraduate or graduate studies with completion of at least two (2) years (60 semester hours) and a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
- Preference will be given to current students of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Traffic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)- Work with designated staff to set development goals to satisfy internship/school requirements;
- Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests and related information to plan and design projects including:
- Roadway Improvements: Collect and analyze traffic data and prepare reports for the design of new roads and the rehabilitation of existing roadways to improve traffic flow and safety.
- Bridge Rehabilitation: Work on projects aimed at inspecting, maintaining, and upgrading bridges to ensure structural integrity and longevity.
- Construction: Work on projects related to construction materials testing and site inspection to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Assist with the development of design drawings, specifications and cost estimates for capital improvement projects;Research and complete assigned projects by accessing websites and contacting necessary parties;Prepare and review site plans, engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates; prepare comments as necessary;Acquire knowledge of city departmental functions and collaborate with engineers and other departments to address project challenges and develop solutions;Attend meetings;Perform other related duties as assigned.
