    The Position

    Napa County is seeking for a Sheriff's Records Technician I/II to join their Sheriff's Records Division in the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff Records Technician I/II is a flexibly staffed position that performs a wide variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the Sheriff's Records Division; processing of warrants, crime reports, and other related law enforcement matters; provides information to law enforcement personnel and to the general public. This position would require working nights, weekends, holidays and/or rotating shifts. This position will be filled at the I or II level, depending on qualifications of the candidate pool.

    The Sheriff's Office is currently recruiting for one full-time positions. The eligibility list created from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies that may occur over the next 12 months.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Experience and Education
    To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:

    Sheriff's Records Techician I ($30.14 - $35.63)
    Experience :
    One year of general clerical experience. Experience in a law enforcement agency including experience with a law enforcement records management system such as I/LEADS and CLETS is desirable.

    Education :
    Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by general clerical training.

    Sheriff's Records Techician II ($31.67 - $37.47)
    Experience
    One year of experience working as Sheriff's Records Technician I or two years of legal clerical experience. Experience in a law enforcement agency including experience with a law enforcement records management system such as I/LEADS and CLETS is highly desirable. Advancement to Sheriff's Records Technician II contingent on successfully completing probation as a Sheriff's Records Technician I, and is at the discretion of higher level management staff.

    Education :
    Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by general clerical training.

    License or Certificate*
    • Certain positions assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, CLETS certification issued by the Department of Justice.
    • Ability to obtain POST Records and Public Records Act certifications.
    *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

    Napa County employees automatically become Disaster Service Workers.     SALARY -
    Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
