Why you’ll love this position:The Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design and Construction (OA-FMDC) has a job opportunity for a Specialized Trades Manager. This is a managerial position with a focus on day-to-day integrated facilities management services, as well as operational reliability of building operating systems - inclusive of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety systems, and more. The position is responsible for employee supervision, including new hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, and coaching. Supervision at this level also requires employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen. Furthermore, the position is responsible for developing, directing and implementing facilities planning, building maintenance, and operational strategies.
What you’ll do: - Oversee facility operations at the new One Health Lab, current State Health Lab, Employment Security Building, Kirchner State School, and Lewis and Clark State Office Building.
- Advocate for the operational functionality of the new One Health Lab during its construction.
- Learn and teach the new state-of-the-art electronics and building operations systems associated with the new One Health Lab.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Life Safety/Emergency Preparedness Program, including coordination with key operational groups.
- Develop positive relationships with internal leaders and external service providers; focusing on delivering targeted results that improve the overall occupancy experience, operating efficiency, and site reliability.
- Manage, lead, train, and develop internal resources in a direct reporting relationship.
- Develop and implement an annual operational plan for the facilities managed.
- Monitor and manage building automation systems for multiple buildings.
All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications - 4 or more years of higher-level experience in trades, building maintenance, or construction.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of business and management principles.
- Skilled in reviewing potential resolutions to issues while considering relative costs and benefits to discern appropriate action.
- Ability to evaluate processes and make recommendations.
- Ability to manage staff and multiple projects within your building(s).
- The ability to understand the following codes: International Building Code (IBC), National Electric Code (NEC), American Disabilities Act (ADA), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
- Knowledge regarding the following equipment: direct digital controls for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC); laboratory air control systems; American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Type II water systems for laboratory facilities; high-pressure water humidifiers; high-efficiency particulate filtration systems; water-cooled centrifugal chillers; cooling towers; condensing boilers; gas-fired water heaters; and generators (1.5MW).
*This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending, climbing ladders, ability to lift up to 50 lbs., working in inclement weather and working on uneven surfaces.
