    Job Summary:

    A Desktop Support Technician Senior is responsible for making decisions on technical issues, diagnoses, or procedures in collaboration with supervisors or managers, providing technical assistance and support to end-users within the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management (DWM). There are multiple DWM facilities that range from the Watershed Executive offices to Plant Operations to Field Operations. The Senior Desktop Techs will need to be flexible and provide personable, responsive, and professional service to a wide range of end users with various skill sets. They may also be responsible for providing oversight for Desktop Tech.

    Formal Education & Certification

    College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or [3-5] years equivalent work experience.

    Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.

    Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) is preferred.

    Knowledge & Experience

    Excellent technical knowledge of hardware, software implementation and networking.

    Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

    Extensive equipment support experience with Window OS and O365.

    5 + Expertise in managing devices in an Active Directory environment.

    Provide on-site and remote computer desktop support in accordance with established policies and procedures.

    Preserve, inspect, and mend computer systems, hardware, printers, and computer peripherals
    Interface regularly and effectively with ticket submitters.

    Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.

    Strong written and oral communication skills.

    Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

    Understanding of the organization’s (AIM - Acknowledge, Invest, Mitigate) goals and objectives.

    Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

    Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

    Strong customer-service orientation.

    Work Conditions

    On-call availability is expected as needed.

    Sitting for extended periods of time.

    Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.

    Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
