Since 1983, Missouri Capitol Police has been the primary full-service law enforcement agency for the 72-acre state office building campus known as the Capitol Complex and state office buildings located in Cole County. Missouri Capitol Police provide service to over 18,000 state employees, state legislators, and elected officials in addition to numerous visitors throughout the year.

You will assist sworn personnel perform general police duties, processes, and operations for the safety of the people and security of the buildings.

Job Description:

  • Provides support services such as personnel, expenditure control, file and record maintenance, procurement of supplies and equipment, submission of payment requisitions for operating expenses, and facilities upkeep.
  • Assists Capitol Police Command Staff with the coordination of budget preparation, internal communication, maintaining records, and law enforcement related requests.
  • Provides supervisory assistance to staff to accomplish day-to-day operational needs.
  • Works in SAM II Financial and MO Buys; ability to learn the new State of Missouri MOVERS system.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.
  • Assists with payroll and ensures appropriate documentation and processes are completed.
  • Performs a variety of clerical, printing, and daily related tasks in support of Missouri Capitol Police.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and determines appropriate action to be taken when needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

4-6 years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze current expenditures and develop budget projections.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of office management and supervision.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of PC operating system, Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of a variety of support service functions and rules and regulations related to those areas.
  • Skill in the operation of standard office equipment.
  • Familiar with general accounting principles.
  • Ability to organize work assignments.
  • Ability to provide guidance to other employees and maintain a regular work schedule.
  • Ability to complete additional duties as assigned.
