Why you’ll love this position: The engineering technician intern is responsible for assisting in the preparation of detailed construction plans for highway bridges related to structures. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
- Prepares detailed construction plans for routine bridges, retaining walls and box culverts using computer aided drafting systems.
- Computes elevations and structural dimensions from sketches and computations supplied by the designer.
- Makes necessary revisions after plans have been checked or reviewed.
- Computes reinforcing bar lists and quantities of materials needed for construction.
- Prepares preliminary detailing for new projects.
- Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Must have a great attitude and a strong desire to learn.
- Must have a strong desire to serve others and the communities in our state.
- Must be a team player and willing to ask questions.
- Must be enrolled in a relevant associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree program.
- Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
- Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
Special working conditions and job characteristics: - This is a wage, non-benefits eligible position, working no more than 1,039 hours per year.
- The typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
