JOB SUMMARY

This position provides general office assistance to the Principal and office staff in assigned school office, provides support and quality customer service to students, parents, staff, and the public.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Provides school office assistance; answers telephone and takes messages; duplicates materials; sorts mail; distributes bulletins, meeting minutes, and/or other documents, as assigned for the purpose of providing support and quality customer service.

2. Assists with counter work; greets and answers inquiries from students, parents, staff, and the public; may assist in filling out and completing forms for the purpose of providing quality customer service.

3. Assists in contacting parent(s)/guardian(s) by telephone, as needed, for the purpose of providing quality customer service.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

1. Maintains and updates knowledge and skills necessary for success in the position by participating in professional development activities, as needed or as assigned; attends building staff meetings; participates in staff development training as needed or as assigned.

2. Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.

3. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

CONDITIONS

School office environment; experiences frequent interruptions; may occasionally deal with difficult or distraught people; may be exposed to infectious diseases; may be required to walk, sit, squat, crawl, kneel, crouch, twist, bend.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

High School graduation or equivalent; experience in dealing with children and the public; preferably in an educational setting; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

Licenses/Special Requirements

May be required to obtain first aid certificate or CPR training.

Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage.

Skill in obtaining, clarifying, and exchanging information.

Skill in providing high quality customer service.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Ability to demonstrate reasonable, reliable and regular attendance.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural setting.

Ability to function successfully as a team member.
