The Position

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

The Research & Analysis Bureau is the state's labor market information office, participating with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to produce detailed data about Nevada's workforce as the primary source of labor market data in the state. This position is in the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) unit and will require a structured review of a large number of specific employer accounts each quarter for accuracy. This involves analyzing trends in the data, providing logical explanations for deviations in trends, assigning county and industry codes to employers, verifying account activity, and estimating missing employment and wage data when necessary. This position is an underfill of an Economist 2 and the incumbent will progress to the next level upon meeting minimum qualifications. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, labor economics, statistics or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in conducting statistical/economic data collection and analysis involving the application of statistical, mathematical and economic principles. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
