The Office of Administration, Division of General Services, Missouri State Recycling Program (MSRP) is seeking a coordinator to advance Missouri’s state government recycling and waste reduction efforts. The MSRP has a proven track record of partnering with state team members and agencies to facilitate fiscally and environmentally responsible strategies for reuse and recycling of state property.   • Assist agencies in materials management to reduce waste, reuse and recycle resources, and engage in green procurement practices.
  • Co-chair the Missouri Interagency Recycling Committee to further sustain the program and develop state government recycling infrastructure.
  • Work with the communications team to develop and distribute monthly communications to an engaged team member audience.
  • Coordinate and participate in several events each year such as the Earth Day Zero Waste Challenge and America Recycles Day events.
  • Coordinate and participate in the annual Recycling Champion awards process.
  • Oversee collection of materials for recycling in the Truman Building such as cardboard, paper, cans, plastic, metals, e-waste, printer cartridges, and other materials.
  • Track performance measures. Administer statewide recycling data and be able to present the information in meaningful ways.
  • Perform site assessments to determine how to setup recycling systems at various buildings. This involves local travel (not overnight).


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A passion for recycling and waste reduction with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak / present to large groups and develop relationships with state agencies and team members.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills along with critical thinking, and the ability to adapt.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, operate a pallet jack, use a stretch wrap dispenser, and basic operation of a vertical baler.
  • A 4-year degree in business administration, environmental science, or liberal arts.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with administering a recycling program in a government setting.
  • Knowledge of the recycling industry and familiarity with regulated wastes such as universal wastes.
  • Ability to learn new software skills such as Tableau (data analytics and dashboard) and Qualtrics (distribute survey, collect, and analyze response data).
  • Proficiency with WebEx Teams as well as Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
