Pay Range: $75,314.00 - $97,908.00 annual compensation.

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

A Neighborhood Services Manager job is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Department in the Neighborhood Development and Revitalization Division. This manager plays a critical role in coordinating and facilitating efforts to make the City’s neighborhoods more livable. The Neighborhood Services Manager oversees several programs and activities, including:
  • Neighborhood Improvement Program
  • Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS
  • Community Development Block Grant Public Service Agencies
  • Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery

The City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Department strengthens families and neighborhoods through social services, community development and affordable housing programs. Neighborhood Services consolidates services and programs that focus on building better neighborhoods and improving quality of life for residents. The Department encompasses housing affordability, housing rehabilitation, administration of state and federally funded social services programs, and community economic development programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of experience in city or regional planning, community or economic development, code enforcement, social or human services, public or business administration or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with managing, development and implementation of programs and services utilizing large and complex federal, state and local grants and funds.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience implementing neighborhood development, community capacity building and citywide conservation strategies.
  • Experience with grant budget development, tracking and forecasting, specifically for Community Development Block Grant, Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery or Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS grant programs.

The Neighborhood Services Manager job responsibilities include:
  • Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Selecting, supervising, training, evaluating, assigning and reviewing the work of subordinate staff.
  • Interpreting State and Federal programs and how these relate to COFW neighborhood services by ensuring compliance.
  • Analyzing and compiling statistical information.
  • Development, oversight and tracking grant budgets.
  • Performing technical, demographic, and economic studies using mathematical modeling.
  • Interpreting and explaining current City policies and procedures.
  • Preparing clear and concise reports.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with community agencies and staff.

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Physical Demand

Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
