The Program Coordinator performs a variety of professional and technical public health work. This position works to favorably influence overall community health status by providing comprehensive and coordinated health education programs to county residents, informing residents of health risk factors and evaluating, organizing, promoting, and implementing health risk reduction strategies through wellness programs and community wellness promotion.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.Monitors STD/STI disease intervention activities including: primary prevention, public and professional education, promotion of the department's standards of diagnosis, treatment and epidemiological interventions.
Coordinates and participates in the quality assurance and evaluation of program activities. Coordinates training, screening activities, and reporting processes with hospitals, private physicians, community based organizations, and others.

Conducts STD/STI investigations, patient/contact record searching, patient interviewing/counseling, contact tracing, case management of patients, referral/tracking into services, documentation and data entry, patient and partner referrals, and follow-up including partner elicitation and notification.

Reviews provider reports for timeliness, compliance with testing and reporting, and regularly consults with public and private health care providers and laboratories to verify reported data and elicit new STD and HIV case reports.

Develops provider database and regularly provides technical assistance to hospitals, laboratories and other health care providers to ensure compliance with testing and reporting procedures.

Conducts data analysis to describe STD trends observed in the county and identifies opportunities for intervention. Prepares data as requested for stakeholder presentations, publications, and program reports.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum two years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Other specific certifications related to the area of assignment may be required for this position.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
