Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Associate AD for Development will play a pivotal role dedicated to advancing the Athletics department through strategic fundraising efforts. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Athletics, this position will work directly with the Associate Vice President for Development to provide strategic leadership to generate an increasing number and amount of major and principal gifts for the department of Athletics. This position must be instrumental in collaborating with University Relations and Development (URD) as well as the Executive Director of Athletics, Athletics administration, coaches, and staff.

The Senior Associate AD for Development will serve as the primary development officer responsible for creating and implementing strategies to ensure the success of the Athletics department's fundraising initiatives. This role includes identifying, prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding leadership and principal gift prospects. The Senior Associate AD for Development is responsible for managing a robust fundraising portfolio, focusing on major gifts of $500,000+ and principal gifts of $1 million+. The goal is to establish a sustainable and thriving fundraising portfolio that supports the Athletics department and its long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management and Engagement - Manage a diverse portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, focusing on gifts of $500,000+ and principal gifts of $1 million+
  • Prospect Identification and Cultivation - Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Solicitation and Stewardship - Ensure proper stewardship of all donors through regular communication, recognition programs, and engagement activities.
  • Sport Administration - Direct and supervise assigned sport program(s) in all aspects, including the development, management, and review of operational activities and budget.

They are adept at building ongoing relationships with season ticket holders, the local community, and donors, and can guide others in policies and procedures supporting the athletics department and university. The candidate navigates complex organizational dynamics with ease, consistently drives results in high-pressure environments, and provides strong customer service across various communication methods. Additionally, they are proficient in basic computer applications.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree and seven years of demonstrated successful major gift fundraising experience including donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation required.

• Prior experience fundraising for an NCAA Division I athletic program is preferred.

• Proven record of knowledge in the full spectrum of philanthropic fund development, including special gifts, major gifts, capital campaigns, annual giving, special events, prospect research, proposal development, and gift planning.

Physical Summary

  • Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.


Licenses / Certificates

• Driver license required.

Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Compensation

CSU MPP Compensation Summary Range: The MPP Comp Summary Range for this position is $9,606 - $14,409 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
