The Lead Lifeguard is the designated lead worker for an aquatic facility with the primary focus on overseeing daily operations and ensuring safe operation of the facility. Lead lifeguards may work in the capacity of multiple roles staffing the aquatic facility, including swim lessons, lifeguard instruction, lifeguard, and customer service roles as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees daily operation of the aquatic facility including work in a variety of roles including swim lessons, lifeguard instructions, lifeguarding, and customer services functions; provides training, evaluation and supervision of staff.
  • Performs operational checks to ensure safe and effective operations of the facility including tests for chemicals, mechanical functions, monitoring water balance, and overall facility cleanliness; orders supplies.
  • Ensures a safe and fun recreational swimming environment by enforcing rules and providing effective supervision of swimmers; rescues distressed swimmers and contacts emergency personnel when needed; handles concerns from the public and provides information as needed.


Qualifications

Experience: At least three years progressively responsible experience in the operations of an aquatic facility is required. Demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills are essential along with strong communication and customer service skills.

Education: A high school Diploma or equivalent is required.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, Waterpark Certificate, AED, and CPR.
