Job Summary

The City of Olathe is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Personal Trainer to join our fitness team at the Olathe Community Center. The ideal candidate will be passionate about health and fitness, with a strong commitment to helping individuals achieve their personal fitness goals. As a Personal Trainer at our Community Center, you will be responsible for designing and implementing personalized fitness programs that cater to a diverse clientele, ranging from beginners to advanced fitness enthusiasts. You will work closely with clients to assess their fitness levels, set achievable goals, and provide ongoing support and motivation. In addition to one-on-one training sessions, you will have the opportunity to lead group fitness classes, workshops, and wellness programs that promote a healthy lifestyle within the community.

The City offers a competitive starting pay from $23.75 to $31.75, based on experience and other qualifications.

The Personal Trainer works with Olathe Community Center clients to identify personal health and fitness goals, customize workouts, and establish goals and plans to meet those goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts fitness assessments and personal training sessions for clients; establishes personal goals and objectives; develops individualized workout plans based on clients' fitness levels, goals, and preferences; motivates and inspires clients to achieve their optimal fitness goal.
  • Promotes Community Center fitness programs and services to members and potential clients; maintains accurate records of client progress and session details.
  • Provides instruction on proper exercise techniques and equipment usage; stays current with fitness trends and certifications.


Qualifications

Experience: At least one year of personal training experience is preferred, but a training program is available for onboarding new trainers without the one year of experience. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, and a positive, motivational attitude.

Education: A h igh school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are required along with Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., NASM, ACE, ISSA, ACSM) .

Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language required. Additional proficiency with Spanish and American Sign Language preferred.

Environmental or Physical Demands : Ability to stay focused in a bustling environment. Job involves demonstrating exercises and working alongside fitness clients which requires balance, endurance, and physical mobility in a variety of fitness conditions along with the ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 pounds.
