Job Description

Location: Central Office

Salary: Up to $33.65/hour based on education and experience.

Full Time /Part Time: Part Time

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday

Primary Hours: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, with alterations to schedule as necessary for afternoon events

Position Description:

To provide dental hygienist skills, abilities, and knowledge for the Dental Health Service program area. Primary duties will be related to the current PHHSBG Fluoride Varnish Outreach Project. Additionally, this position supports Dental Health Service efforts that include oral health education and development of public health initiatives.

Duties:
  • Direct the educational/training component of the PHHSBG Fluoride Varnish Outreach Project, and others as directed. Provide training for CHD staff on FV application. Seek out ways to improve the efficiency and reach of the program for both internal and external partners.
  • Lead oral health outreach efforts with CHDs and outside partners. Work with Community Health Workers, Health Educators, and other OSDH team members to incorporate oral health knowledge and resources into education curriculums and program efforts.
  • Participate in Dental Health budget meetings and PHHSBG meetings, monthly. Assist OSDH staff as needed when choosing oral health products/informational materials related to oral health.
  • Update and disseminate OK Senior Smiles curriculum as needed. Build on the existing COMMs-approved oral health education materials that are available for CHD use and public information. Update these as necessary to reflect current research and best practices.
  • Work with the director of Dental Health Service to explore potential grant opportunities that align with the program area and agency mission. Collaborate with director on grant proposals as needed.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.


Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Dental Hygienist; with dental hygiene license issued by the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry; with a minimum of three years of dental hygiene experience.

Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Dental Hygienist should have a working knowledge of public health initiatives and dental public health.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position will be a hybrid office/telework position. Employee will be required to work in the central office 2-3 days per week. Occasional travel is possible.

Telework: This position is Hybrid and is subject to OSDH policy and supervisor’s discretion.
