St. Louis Regional Office Assistant Director

Typical working hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Hybrid Work Option available upon completion of training.

Role Description:

The Assistant Director will manage the individual and Family Supports program at our Seven Hills Regional Office, located at 4040 Seven Hills Dr. in Florissant, MO. In addition, they will oversee state Support Coordination for various areas of St. Louis County. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the day-to day functions of the Seven Hills Regional Office and will report to the Regional Office Director for the East Region.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership that assures the Department and Division mission, values, and outcomes are implemented throughout the Regional Office.
  • Review inquiry and investigative reports and make determinations, requests plans for action from provider agencies for system enhancement, ensure preliminary determination and final determinations are conducted per regulation and ensure that due process occurs for those alleged perpetrators who have been substantiated of abuse and neglect.
  • Makes final determinations for Utilization Review funding request for services by reviewing information, ensuring state care of plan is met, meets definition of waiver, review past plans, determine if other resources are available to fund, send response to Provider.
  • Handles the UR appeals process from the families who are denied services.
  • Completes the Facility Administrator portion of the mortality review process upon a death of a consumer.
  • Hold TCM calls for county boards prepare agenda, facilitates and cite authorities for meeting. Host calls with each county TCM board support coordinators to educate, communicate, review county issues and solutions.
  • Review all TCM trend reports with the Director and address issues with TCM entities.
  • Provide day to day troubleshooting: crisis management, the logistics of individuals moving between providers, working with TCM providers and other provider agencies. Develop, implement, and administer habilitation programs and services to achieve positive client or program outcomes.
  • Attend Director’s/Assistant Director’s meeting to strategically plan the Satellite Offices.
  • Coordinate and facilitate All Staff meetings, management meetings, and individual employee meetings to disseminate information to staff.
  • Supervisor expectations
    • Monitor employee assignments to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance.
    • Recommends training for staff of new processes and enhancements.
    • Review, submit, and approve all timesheets by established deadlines.
    • Meet with the Team Members monthly and record meetings in Engage tracking system.
    • Document performance throughout the year and address situations that need to be addressed in a timely fashion.
    • Monitor personnel issues with staff, address sick leave, annual leave, tardiness, and overall work performance.
    • Foster an open environment for the exchange of ideas by being open to differing opinions and ideas.
    • Make timely and consistent decisions and communicate those to staff in a clear manner.
  • Work in a professional manner within the Regional Office, with staff within all Division departments and with outside agencies, organizations, contracted providers, schools, not-for-profit agencies, etc.


4 or more years of relevant experience and 1-2 years of supervision experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of supervisory/leadership experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, or similar programs is preferred.
